Hi, I’m Anna

Art has been in my bones since childhood, thanks to my artist mother and photographer grandfather. Even while studying Business or serving as an Army Officer, I was sketching. Now, after more than thirty years, four kids, a bunch of pets and countless ideas, I THINK I’ve landed right where I belong.

Art isn’t just about making things – it’s about leading a richer life, noticing what surrounds you, and building your confidence to record your memories and experiences through art. Whether it’s sketching a room in your home, painting your favourite view, or enjoying the quiet mindfulness of pencil on paper, I truly believe that everyone can learn to create.

Life Behind the Art

When I’m not sketching or planning Paint Alongs, you’ll probably find me:

in the kitchen with kids or friends
dancing around the house to ‘Flamingo Blonde’ and ‘01 Thurman’ or Benson Boone ;)
talking to our chatty cat, CatDog, about my cat and prawn allergies
or thinking about cleaning the back shed.

What I do

Original Art & Homewares

I work in vibrant watercolour and acrylic – creating paintings that bring joy and colour into everyday life. From original pieces to patterns on well-made homeware and stationery, I love to be surrounded by things that are both useful and beautiful (thanks for the idea, William Morris!).

Online Classes & Community

My signature course, Shiny Happy Drawing, and the ongoing Shiny Happy Art Club (there are over 100 online classes there now!) are built to support beginner and intermediate artists and painters. These online classes are step-by-step, inclusive, and full of encouragement – so you can learn at your own pace and impress yourself along the way!

In-Person Events & Workshops

I also host face‑to‑face classes, occasional pop-up workshops and wonderful Art Holidays. My approach is warm, the people that come along are FABULOUS and we have so much fun… making memories with Art Friends is THE BEST.
